**Helpful tips and common mistakes

In the original recipe it is suggested to use a dark beer to get more of the flavor in the bread. I only had an orange wheat beer but thought it would still go nicely with this bread, even if it wasn’t a dark beer, because of the hint of orange.

I have to admit, the batter was much thicker than I had anticipated and can be difficult to evenly spread the batter in the pan. I used my 10 inch cast iron pan instead of a loaf pan to give it a nice golden crust.

Since the batter was spread out more thinly, the bread baked in 40 minutes at 350 degrees. I honestly did not think the bread needed more butter since it already had 1/2 cup in the batter itself.

I was pleasantly surprised with this bread. It was exactly as the name promised: buttery beer bread. It fell apart quite easily like a biscuit but was still moist and soft inside. When the bread had cooled, you can taste more of the subtle sweetness from the sugar. All in all a great bread with only 6 ingredients and one hour!
